Club Trainers
The Select Racing Club has horses in training across the country, with Gary Moore, Tim Vaughan and Andy Crook.
Our trainers are all dedicated to achieving success on the racecourse; Gary Moore is established as one of the leading trainers in the UK, both on the flat and over jumps, while Tim Vaughan has quickly risen through the ranks of jumps trainers. Andy, our newest trainer, has trained plenty of winners since starting training in 2001, including Scottish Grand National winner Ryalux.
Here is all the information on our Club trainers;
Select Racing Club Trainer: Gary Moore - Select Racing horses in training: 1
Gary Moore is firmly established as one of the country's leading trainers, both on the flat and over jumps.
Formerly based in Brighton, he has since moved in to a state-of-the-art training establishment with over 80 boxes, set in over 200 acres of countryside in West Sussex. Gary regularly trains over 100 winners per year, including at the highest level, with success in 2010 including a win at Royal Ascot, in the Queen Alexandra. He has also trained a winner at the Cheltenham Festival, and is an exceptionally knowledgeable horseman, having ridden plenty of winners over the jumps too!
Gary always has top jockeys at his disposal, as he is the father of Champion Flat Jockey Ryan Moore, and former Champion Jumps Conditional Jockey Jamie Moore. Jamie in particular plays a big role in the day-to-day running of the yard, and can often be seen riding out our Club horse before going racing!
Select Racing Club Trainer: Tim Vaughan - Select Racing horses in training: 2
Tim Vaughan is the most prominent, up-and-coming trainer in the country, having established himself as one of the leading trainers in 2009/2010 with 91 winners! Tim is in charge of Club horses Mrs Peacock and Spirit Is Needed, and the Club holds regular stable visits to his yard, where members have the opportunity to explore the yard, enjoy a coffee and chat with the trainer, and see the horses work on the gallops.
Having ridden since the age of two, Tim was crowned Welsh Men's Point to Point Champion Rider in 2004 and 2007, riding over 100 winners in that time. Since switching to training, he has achieved unparalled success for one so new to the industry, training over 150 winners in just a couple of seasons, including with Club horse Rupestrian, who won four times in 2009 before taking in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2010.
Select Racing Club Trainer: Andy Crook - Select Racing horses in training: 2
Andy worked his way up from Stable Lad before finally taking his trainer's licence in 2001. Having worked in racing for many years, he managed to make a seamless transition to training, with 13 winners in his first season, and he is no stranger to big-race success, with a Scottish Grand National victory to his name.
He has a full yard this year and with plenty of nice young horses to run, it promises to be another successful year for our Middleham-based trainer, who has already recorded a win with the SRC's Along Came Rosie, and is very excited by our new, unraced 3yo.
