February Week 1 training update

Select Racing Club - Rupestrian trains ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.jpg

The entries for the Triumph Hurdle are in, and it is exciting to see Rupestrian's name on the list of acceptors! (77 in total).

A vote on whether Rupestrian should go for the Triumph Hurdle or the Fred Winter is now online, along with trainer Tim Vaughan's opinion on the subject.  The vote will be online until the following Saturday.

Tim seems to be 50-50 about running Rupestrian before Cheltenham now - he feels that at this stage the Kempton meeting in late February may just be a week too soon, and he doesn't want to take any risks with the horse pre-Cheltenham, so running at the beginning of March is probably out of the question. Again, we'll have a decision on this by the time of the next week's training update.

Either way, there is plenty to look forward to with Rupestrian this summer, as he is likely to head for the 4yo Hurdle at Aintree after Cheltenham and he will be kept quite busy in the early summer, after having a quiet time recently!

I went to Gary Moore's yard to see Haling Park in pre-training earlier this week, and she looks very well.  Gary said that she would only be two-three weeks away from a run as soon as we put her in full training, but we'll probably just wait another week or so before doing that, as there is no point bringing her back until we are guaranteed some good ground, and the weather forecasters apparently don't see that happening any time soon!

Finally, I look forward to seeing several members at the stable visit on the 18th, and I hope that you can make it on to Ffos Las afterwards - it is well worth a visit if you haven't already been. If you are not yet a member of Select Racing Club - join up now and go to the Cheltenham Festival as an owner!
