Garrulous finishes third on debut for the SRC at Bangor

Garrulous is absolutely fine today after his run at Bangor yesterday evening, where he finished  a good third in the handicap hurdle.

It was a very promising return to action and both Tim and jockey Richard Johnson were really please with the horse.  Tim in particular feels that there is a great deal of improvement to come, as he had not been too hard on the horse at home given how long he had been off the track.

His jumping was far better than when he was last running over hurdles, and again credit to Richard for getting a clear view of the hurdles.  He was a little fresh (as was expected) and was slightly keen for the first third of the race, but after 'blowing up' down the back straight, he ran on all the way to the line.

It really was the perfect comeback run (apart from not winning!), as Garrulous looked to be enjoying himself both in the preliminaries and in the race itself, and as Richard only gave him a slap down the shoulder, he will have had a great experience on his return to the racecourse after such a long layoff.

He eat up all his food both last night and this morning (always a good sign!), and was turned out in the paddocks for the afternoon - he'll probably have a couple of days of relaxation in there now before the hard work starts!

Looking ahead, there are options at Worcester on the 23rd of June (2m, 0-105) and Stratford on the 29th of June (2m110y, 0-115).  There is nothing in between unfortunately, so I suppose much will depend on how long Tim feels he needs - at this stage I would say three weeks would be better than two (a return to Stratford is quite appealing as well, as that is where it all began for the SRC with Rupestrian last May!), but we'll know more by the time of the next update on Monday.

A video of Garrulous in the paddock will be available on our YouTube page shortly.  Photos of the evening can be found by clicking here.
