A regally-bred five-year-old, Prince Charmin’ has a very strong level of form over hurdles. He was purchased with a view to aiming him at some valuable handicap prizes in the season ahead, including at the October and November meetings at Cheltenham, where we won with Master Dancer last year.
A winner on the flat as a three-year-old, Prince Charmin’ developed into a useful hurdler last year, winning in novice company before following up in a competitive €20,000 handicap hurdle off a mark of 118, the feature of both wins being the manner in which he travelled through the contests.
He was aimed at a €100,000 handicap at the Galway Festival last summer, but fell there and was given a break after Punchestown in October. He has had three runs back on the flat for confidence, which have served to show his ability remains and he is now ready to return to the National Hunt sphere.
At his best in a big field and when held up off a strong gallop, the son of High Chaparral looks to have all the attributes that are required to make a mark in valuable handicaps. Out of a half-sister to top-class flat stayers Craigsteel and Invermark, as well as the high-class hurdler Hora (herself the dam of high-class hurdler Thomas Campbell), there is a distinct possibility of further improvement, especially given he is just five years old.
He looks an ideal candidate for a freshen up and a new environment and is now back in full training after a nice spell in the paddocks. Having run in mid-July, he shouldn’t take too long to prepare for his racecourse return at Cheltenham in October and we are very excited indeed about his prospects.

Tim Vaughan is one of the UK’s leading jumps trainers, with over 700 winners in his career to date. Club Manager Nathaniel Barnett was Tim’s Assistant Trainer for over two years, so he knows the yard very well and it is tremendously exciting to have two exciting horses in training with Tim.
Tim and the team are always very welcoming at our regular gallops mornings and we look forward to plenty more enjoyable and successful days with the Prince Charmin’ syndicate, both on and off the racecourse!
